The pharmaceutical sector is an industrial sector that is advancing with enormous and consolidated steps to become one of the areas of reference in our country. The year 2023 closed with 174 active pharmaceutical production plants, of which 106 manufacture drugs for human use, 22 veterinary drugs and 46 produce active ingredients. In fact, almost 20% of investment in R&D projects in Spain is driven by the pharmaceutical sector. These investments in innovation make our country the ninth largest pharmaceutical market in the world.
