Ultrasonic welding
Achieve tight welds quickly and efficiently with ultrasonic welding technique
In many occasions, today’s industry needs to be able to join plastic or metal parts quickly and efficiently, without the need to invest more time than necessary. In the case of the automotive industry this is a very common and usual need. Most of the vehicles we have today are manufactured by assembling or joining metal or plastic parts. The final robustness of the product depends on the quality of the union of these parts.
At DEIMA we know how important it is to achieve fast joints or welds without sacrificing optimum quality. For this reason, our engineers have developed an ultrasonic welding system that offers excellent performance in joining metals and plastics.
How does ultrasonic welding work?
Ultrasonic welding, as the name implies, uses ultrasonic vibrations to join metal or plastic parts quickly and efficiently.
The ultrasonic welding machine generates high frequency sound waves that are transmitted through a transducer that creates friction at the interface of the parts to be welded. The transducer is responsible for transforming the waves into temperature and heat, which melts the plastic or metal in question and allows them to be firmly joined.
Ultrasonic welding in the automotive industry
Ultrasonic welding is a system widely used in the automotive sector. In fact, from DEIMA we have designed different machines to assemble the “brackets” on the bumpers of the vehicles.
The ultrasonic welding machine positions the bracket in the desired location and then applies the ultrasonic weld to obtain a solid, robust and durable joint.
Thanks to this type of ultrasonic welding, precise and high quality joints can be achieved without the need to use adhesives or screws that require more time for application. Ultrasonic welding is a great ally to optimize the manufacturing process in the automotive sector.
